Throughout the Seasons

I met you as summer was coming to an end,
You helped me out and became my friend.
At that point I didn’t know how much you would mean to me,
But I figured in the near future, I would see.
There was just something that drew me to you,
Which is a feat accomplished by few.
You were caring, humorous, and kind to all,
And that is how you became my downfall.

This feeling came to me during fall,
Blinded by this, I came to your every call.
I wouldn’t call it “love”, just a tiny infatuation,
But I was still happy when you paid me attention.
It was the way you smiled, zone off, and made me feel special,
All the memories you’ve given me, I will always treasure.
This happiness was what I wished to preserve,
Unfortunately, it was not what I deserved.

Winter rolled in and that was when I knew,
My boring old self had fallen in love with you.
I knew I had no real chance,
But still I placed my heart into your hands.
At this point, your eyes were on someone else,
A girl million times better than me, nonetheless.
I should have stopped and given up,
But they say you do dumb things when you’re in love.

Spring is actually my favorite season,
But not this year, for a certain reason.
You see, after half a year of liking you,
I figured it was time that you knew.
So I gathered the courage to do so one day,
Losing our friendship was the price I had to pay.
And when the awkward tension came,
I realized things would never be the same.

Summer is coming back soon,
A whole year since I first met you.
I’ll never forget my memories with you,
From the first day until my feelings grew.
I wish you good luck in whatever you do,
And I sincerely hope we can start anew.
Now it’s time for me to get over you,
So for a while, I bid you adieu.
